This one is so easy it feels like cheating. I had a little leftover vodka from making blueberry vodka, a nice bushy basil plant and a small bottle. I have no idea what this will taste like, but it seemed like a lovely combination – sweet fresh basil and strong vodka. Either alone or in a cocktail
Tear the washed basil (it should always be torn and not cut, apparently) and stuff the small bottle full of it. I added a tablespoonful of sugar to take a little of the edge off the vodka and then filled the bottle up, shaking it vigorously and putting it with the bottles of blueberry (which have now turned a beautiful purple colour)
I’ll be checking this one regularly to see how the leaves are faring in the spirits, I don’t want them to go mulchy or anything. Then once it seems to be ready I will strain it and try it properly. Preferably in my backgarden with some halloumi salad
The problem is, I am having ideas now, and want to make mojito shots – all the flavour of mojitos, in one single bottle to be poured out in shots. And I have been asked how to make chocolate-mint vodka, so it looks to be a boozy summer
